Battle of Chancellorsville - Essay and Term Paper
The Battle of Chancellorsville seems to be the less interesting war of the United States during the Civil War. The Civil War paved the road to American way of governing and thinking, and yet the actual war nearly ruined the whole country. The War started out as a pursuit for freedom, and ended up a war fighting emancipation. So was this battle the most important or was it just another battle leading up to the final battle?
While Lee was kept up in is winter quarters at Fredericksburg he started developing a plan for a campaign for the upcoming spring. He asked his writer, his topographical engineer, to make a map of the land between the Potomac and the Susquehanna. Official records show that the Federal army under Burnside was demoralized after the Fredericksburg and the “Mud Campaign” failures.
