Every child can remember their first family pet. Whether it was a cat, bird, or frog that pet was there best friend. Someone they could turn to when they were feeling down and things weren’t going their way. Well I can remember my first pet which was a puppy. I can remember my joy and happiness because I had a friend. Until one life altering experience that changed my outlook on dogs forever.

I can remember the day I became frighten of dogs like it was yesterday. It was a hot summer day and I was about 7 ½ years of age. My grandmother needed my uncle to walk to the corner store for some jiffy mix. I wanted to go because I had 50 cents that I wanted to spend. On the way back from the store my uncle noticed that the neighbor’s dog was out and running loose. My uncle left me behind and crossed the street. I was left to face this huge massive dog alone.
