The Educational Structure of College versus High School The structure in high school is very different from in college. High school is mandatory and free, whereas college is a personal choice, and can be expensive. Both are schools that allow one to get ready for the next step in one’s life. From high school, the next step could be work or college. College is where one can find a life-long career. There is a lot of structure in high school. Attendance is expected, or students could be suspended or expelled. The hours to attend school are usually from 8:00 in the morning, until 2:30 in the afternoon. Students go to the same seven or eight classes every day. Between class periods students only have three to five minutes to get to the next class.
