Xerox Corporation: The Customer Satisfaction Program The worldwide copier market was mature and intensely competitive. In the United States, copier placements had grown at a slow rate of 2.9% CAGR between 1984 and 1989. Copier industry was categorized into three product markets: Low-volume market, Mid-volume market and High-volume market. Due to intense competition in low-volume market, copier prices and margins were very low and growth was also flattened by 1990. Asz we moved from low-volume to high-volume market, more machines were leased than bought. About 23 companies competed in the market. Other from the low-volume market, Xerox was the market leader in the other two volume markets.
