Bagel Hockey Case - Essay and Term Paper
INTRODUCTION
Toronto Training Academy has a cafeteria that is open seven days a week, located in its residential hall. Because the school is mostly attended by commuters, the campus is practically unoccupied during the weekend, causing the cafeteria to have very little business except for a few busy spurts. There is only one shift required to work on Saturdays and Sunday from 12:30pm until 7:00pm. The weekend shift has a total of seven workers, which consists of two supervisors, a cashier, two grill workers, and two deli workers. Since there is an abundance of idle time in the cafeteria, the majority of the employees play games such as “Bagel Hockey,” during the slow periods. The employees that do not participate in the activities do not mind their peers playing around, but it becomes a problem when busy spurts occurs and they are the only employees available to attend to the customers.
