The notion of the subordinate position of women goes as far back as human existence. For centuries, the majority of women have taken the subordinate position in almost everything they attempt. It has become so common that is it now expected of women to take a submissive role whether it is in a relationship, career choice, a work environment or conforming to feminine standards, the predominant role of men is something that cannot be changed by any amount of ‘political posturing’.
