Most teams do it in some form or another – cheating. However, no teams have been as brazen at it as the New England Patriots. The Patriots were caught sending assistant, Matt Estrella, out to videotape the opposing team while they sent in their defensive signals during a week one matchup against the New York Jets. This is just the latest scandal to rock the NFL after a very turbulent offseason which included the suspension of Adam “Pacman” Jones and the indictment of Michael Vick for dog fighting. Some people would make the claim that everyone cheats and it does not help that much but it does help a lot and it is wrong. Belichick should have been punished more harshly because he violated the rules of the game.
To steal the opposing teams’ defensive signals, the Patriots videotaped the coaches sending in the signals and then pan the camera out to show the down and distance of the play. After the game they would sync......
