Father Raymond Brown - Essay and Term Paper
Father Raymond Edward Brown, S.S., (born May 22, 1928, died August 8, 1998), was an American Roman Catholic priest. He was appointed in 1972 and in 1996 to the Pontifical Biblical Commission, which advises the pontiff on scriptural matters, and professor Emeritus at the Protestant Union Theological Seminary in New York where he taught for 23 years. He holds over twenty honorary doctorates from Catholic and Protestant universities. He is author of over twenty-five books on the Bible, including the acclaimed volumes The Birth of the Messiah and The Death of the Messiah. Raymond Brown was a moderately critical New Testament theologian. In 1994 he wrote a book called An Introduction to New Testament Christology.
