Why is improving communication for mangers important? First research indicates that mangers spend 50-80% of their time communicating in one form or another. This can be face to face, telephone, in writing which includes; memos, e-mails and faxes. Each form has its own advantages and disadvantages. With all the electronic devices which include; pagers, cell phones and computers, the transfer of information or communicating is happening at a fast pace. It’s not surprising to find out from employees that the number one complaint is the lack of communication.
Every company or organization in order to be successful or even to just survive must have successful communication. Without effective communication there can be little or no performance management, innovation, understanding of clients, coordination of effort, and, without effective communication of those who are in a position to make decisions about your fate.¹
